History

The great entity of the Osman Group started in 1942 on the initiative of the late Eng. Osman Ahmed Osman when he, together with his brother Eng. Hussein Ahmed Osman, formed a small business firm for contracting and engineering works.
Faith in God, honesty, enthusiasm, dedication and hard work led to the enlargement and expansion of the business and with excellency in performance paved the way to penetrate the construction market place in Egypt and other Arab countries with the establishment of three new companies:

In 1952: The Saudi Enterprises Co. (Osman Ahmed Osman & Co.) in Saudi Arabia.

In 1953: The Kuwait Engineering Co. (Osman Ahmed Osman & Co.) in Kuwait.

In 1954: The Engineering Industries and General Contracting Co. in Egypt.

The mother company was nationalized in 1961 and the name changed to The Arab Contractors “ Osman Ahmed Osman & Co.” but it remained under the chairmanship of Eng. Osman Ahmed Osman. Two further companies were established:

In 1961: The Libyan Co. for Contracting & Development (Osman Ahmed Osman & Co.) in Libya.

In 1963: Osman Ahmed Osman & Co. (Engineers & Contractors) in Abu Dhabi.

Due to the expansion and diversity, a set of representative offices was established in other countries namely: Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq, Sudan, Germany (Bremen), and England (London).

In 1973, Eng. Osman Ahmed Osman was appointed to the Cabinet (Minister of Housing and Reconstruction) and Eng. Hussein Ahmed Osman was named the new Chairman of The Arab Contractors (Osman Ahmed Osman & Co.).

Progression continued at this time and the business turnover surpassed one billion US Dollars with a work force of more than 56,000 permanent employees.

In 1974, a new economic policy was adopted in Egypt, the Open Door Economic Policy, which encouraged reactivation of the private sector and led to the establishment of:

ARAB CONTRACTORS (OSMAN AHMED OSMAN) ASSOCIATED COMPANIES

A group of private companies with a majority shareholding to Arab Contractors was established.

ARAB CONTRACTORS EMPLOYEE’S PENSION FUND

This fund has established and participated in a new group of Companies with diversified interests.

THE OSMAN GROUP (OG)

A group of industrial and general engineering companies, which are privately owned by Osman family.

All of these groups of companies are closely related and have achieved a great deal of success during the seventies and, with a tremendous momentum through the eighties till now, are to be considered one of the leading business, industrial and general enterprise groups in Egypt.

In 1979, the Arab Contractors Company (Osman Ahmed Osman & Co.), under the chairmanship of Eng. Hussein Ahmed Osman, executed the largest agricultural development ever known in the Middle Eat and Africa, which was the Salhya Project. It comprised the construction and cultivation of 150,000 acres.

DinaFarms belongs to Dina For Agriculture Investments Company, which is considered as one of the largest agricultural enterprises in Egypt and the Middle East. This company is one of the largest firms forming the Osman Group (OG).
